Story

In a significant breakthrough for families of missing persons, four families in Georgetown have recently received answers regarding their loved ones' disappearances, thanks to the efforts of Jason Souhrada and the non-profit search and rescue team, Adam Brown Adventures. This initiative has been instrumental in resolving long-standing mysteries, including a notable case involving three men found in a submerged vehicle, which had remained unsolved for 40 years. Souhrada, who first gained attention in June for his sonar discovery, recounted how he located a car in a North Carolina creek. After conducting preliminary scans, he contacted Adam Brown, a diver and founder of the Columbia-based rescue team, to assist in the investigation. Their collaboration led to the identification of Daniel Riggs' Dodge Nitro, which had been missing since November 2015, when Riggs was last seen purchasing oil in Myrtle Beach. The search team utilized advanced technology, including an underwater drone, to expedite the process of locating Riggs' vehicle. Upon inspection, they confirmed the presence of human remains inside the car, which were later identified as Riggs by the Georgetown County Coroner's Office. This discovery highlights the challenges faced in underwater searches, as Brown noted the vast areas that remain unchecked. Souhrada emphasized the importance of keeping the stories of missing persons alive, urging families to continue raising awareness. He believes that public interest can significantly aid search efforts, encouraging teams to investigate potential leads when they encounter submerged vehicles.
