On Friday, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar gathered at 'Sadaiv Atal' in Delhi to commemorate the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The prayer meeting was attended by prominent political figures, including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alongside other Cabinet members. Vajpayee's foster daughter, Namita Kaul Bhattacharya, also participated in the floral tribute. Union Minister Amit Shah expressed his admiration for Vajpayee, highlighting his contributions to India's strategic and economic strength during his tenure. Shah emphasized that Vajpayee's legacy is marked by political integrity and loyalty to national interests, stating that he will always be remembered for his steadfast principles. The BJP's official social media account echoed these sentiments, honoring Vajpayee as a source of inspiration and a Bharat Ratna awardee. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, born in Gwalior in 1924, was a pivotal figure in Indian politics and the face of the BJP for many years. He made history as the first non-Congress Prime Minister to serve a full term, holding office from 1998 to 2004, with a brief earlier term in 1996. Additionally, he served as India's External Affairs Minister from 1977 to 1979. Vajpayee passed away on August 16, 2018, at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi, leaving behind a significant political legacy.
