In a significant advancement for U.S. military capabilities, Teledyne FLIR Defense has been awarded a $74.2 million contract to upgrade the sensor suite for the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBCRV) of the U.S. Army. This four-year contract is aimed at developing a next-generation mounted reconnaissance capability for the M1135 Stryker. Teledyne FLIR Defense, recognized for its leadership in thermal imaging and surveillance sensor technology, is tasked with integrating an autonomous suite of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) sensors into the NBCRV program. This modernization initiative will enhance the vehicle's situational awareness and decision-making capabilities on the battlefield, crucial for the protection of military personnel against various lethal agents. The development will include advanced sensing technologies, improved flight control for the FLIR Defense R80D SkyRaider drone, and new hazard prediction software.
