AC Milan signs Emerson Royal from Tottenham

AC Milan has officially announced the acquisition of right-back Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur for a reported fee of €15 million, with an additional €3 million in potential add-ons. The 25-year-old Brazilian has signed a four-year contract with the option for a further year and will don the No. 22 jersey for the upcoming season. Royal's move to Milan follows a three-year stint at Spurs, where he made 101 appearances after joining from Barcelona in a deal worth £25.8 million, plus add-ons. During his time at Tottenham, he faced competition for the right-back position, primarily serving as a backup to Pedro Porro, and made 24 appearances in the 2023-24 season, with only 13 being starts. In addition to Royal, AC Milan has bolstered its squad this summer with the signings of striker Alvaro Morata, center-back Strahinja Pavlovic, and left-back Alex Jimenez.
