In the wake of an attack on Uddhav Thackeray's convoy by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers, MNS chief Raj Thackeray has issued a strong statement, attributing the incident to the anger of his party members. The confrontation occurred in Thane, where MNS supporters protested by throwing coconuts and cow dung at Thackeray's convoy, claiming it was retaliation for an earlier incident involving Raj Thackeray's car being pelted with betel nuts and tomatoes. Video footage captured the moment when MNS workers ambushed Uddhav Thackeray's convoy, which was passing through a road in Thane. The protestors quickly dispersed after their actions, leading to the Thane police detaining 20 individuals. However, as of now, no formal charges have been filed against anyone involved in the incident. Raj Thackeray took to social media to elaborate on the events leading up to the protest, mentioning that tensions had been brewing over Maratha reservation issues in Dharashiv and Beed. He clarified that the protestors were not affiliated with the Maratha reservation movement but were instead linked to Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar. Thackeray emphasized the need for political discourse to remain non-violent, urging all parties to focus on pressing public issues in Maharashtra. In his post, Raj Thackeray warned that while verbal attacks are commonplace in politics, the MNS would not shy away from taking a stand if necessary, hinting at a readiness to escalate their response if provoked further.
