41st Watch & Clock Design Competition Awards in Hong Kong, Sept 2024

The 43rd HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and the 12th Salon de TIME, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, concluded successfully on September 7, 2024. The fairs attracted around 17,000 buyers from 106 countries and regions, demonstrating the global interest in Hong Kong's watch industry. This year's events highlighted the importance of innovation and creativity in watch design, with a focus on advanced technologies and artistic expression. The 41st Hong Kong Watch & Clock Design Competition was a key feature of the fairs, with winners and finalists displayed prominently. The competition included two main categories: Open Group and Student Group, encouraging participants to push the boundaries of traditional watch design. The Talent Moment theme for the Student Group inspired entries that explored new frontiers for quartz watches, particularly influenced by artificial intelligence. In the Open Group, the winning design, Vertical 6.0, showcased an industrial aesthetic, while the Student Group champion, Liminality, drew inspiration from nature. The competition not only recognized outstanding designs but also aimed to foster the development of the local watch industry, emphasizing the significance of nurturing young talent.
