Navi Mumbai Engineer Missing After Suicide Attempt at Atal Setu Bridge

Navi Mumbai authorities are continuing their search for 38-year-old engineer Karuturi Srinivas, who attempted suicide by jumping off the Atal Setu bridge over 24 hours ago. CCTV footage has surfaced, showing Srinivas parking his vehicle and jumping into the sea without hesitation. A resident of Palava City in Dombivli, he left home on Wednesday night, claiming he was meeting a business partner, but his whereabouts remain unknown. Srinivas was last seen chatting with family and a visiting relative until around 10:30 PM on Wednesday. After the relative departed, he informed his business partner the next morning that he was en route to meet him. However, he instead drove to the bridge around 12:25 PM and jumped off. His wife, a homemaker, has reported that he was under significant financial stress due to multiple bank loans, which may have contributed to his actions. This incident marks the second suicide attempt at the Atal Setu bridge since its inauguration this year, following a similar case involving a doctor from Mumbai. Rescue operations have been hampered by heavy rainfall, complicating efforts to locate Srinivas. Authorities are urging anyone in distress to seek help from organizations like AASRA, which provide support for those in crisis.
