OCEAN CITY, N.J. (CBS) — Gillian's Wonderland Pier, a cherished amusement destination on the Ocean City boardwalk, is set to close its doors after nearly 100 years of operation. Owner Jay Gillian announced the unexpected closure via a heartfelt Facebook post, citing the challenges of maintaining the business as the primary reason for the decision. He expressed his gratitude for the support received over the years but acknowledged that the amusement pier is no longer a viable business. In his announcement, Gillian reflected on his deep-rooted connection to the pier, sharing memories of learning to fix and operate rides alongside his brother from the age of 13.
