On September 12, 2024, the American Urological Association (AUA) announced an expansion of its partnership with Verana Health, a digital health company focused on enhancing patient care and clinical research through real-world data. This collaboration will see Verana Health take on additional responsibilities, including electronic health record integration and support for the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) quality reporting for clinicians involved in the AQUA Registry, starting in 2025. The AUA's CEO, Mike Sheppard, emphasized that this partnership marks a significant shift for the AQUA Registry, aiming to improve the quality of registry data and extend benefits across all urology subspecialties. The decision to expand Verana Health's role is attributed to its capability to enhance clinician experiences and provide high-quality MIPS reporting, which is essential for generating meaningful insights within the urology community. Sujay Jadhav, CEO of Verana Health, highlighted the company's commitment to utilizing real-world data from the AQUA Registry to advance urologic research, particularly for conditions like prostate and bladder cancer. The new responsibilities will also focus on delivering exceptional experiences for practices and clinicians, offering practice-level insights and innovative solutions to improve patient care. MRO, the current technical partner, will continue its services until the first quarter of 2025, ensuring a smooth transition without disrupting current services or impacting 2024 MIPS reporting.
