Story

On July 25, Romania reported the discovery of Russian drone fragments on its territory, coinciding with a significant drone attack by Moscow troops targeting Ukraine. NATO officials stated there was no evidence of an intentional attack on NATO territory, despite the incident. Ukraine's Air Force successfully intercepted 25 out of 38 long-range drones launched by Russia, with three drones reportedly lost after crossing into Romanian airspace. The Romanian defense ministry identified the debris as parts of a Russian Geran 1/2 drone found near the village of Plauru, situated across the Danube River from Ukraine's Izmail, which has faced consecutive nights of drone assaults. In response to the situation, two Finnish F-18 fighter jets, part of NATO's air policing mission in Romania, were deployed to monitor the developments. The ongoing conflict has seen Russia targeting infrastructure in Ukraine's southern Odesa region and central areas. Reports indicate that drone debris caused injuries in Izmail, where two individuals were wounded when fragments struck a private residence. In total, drone debris damaged ten homes and one infrastructure facility, while Ukrainian air defense systems managed to intercept most aerial threats. In Kyiv, military officials reported that drones attempted to attack the capital from various directions but were successfully neutralized before causing any damage or casualties. Meanwhile, in Kherson, a civilian was killed by explosives dropped from a drone, highlighting the continued dangers faced by residents in conflict-affected regions.
