Brandon Crawford Released by Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals announced the release of veteran shortstop Brandon Crawford on Tuesday, alongside the reinstatement of infielder Matt Carpenter from the injured list. Crawford, a notable four-time Gold Glove winner and three-time All-Star during his 13 seasons with the San Francisco Giants, struggled this season with a batting average of .169, hitting one home run and driving in four runs over 80 plate appearances. His last appearance for the Cardinals was on August 10. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol expressed deep respect for Crawford, acknowledging his contributions to the team despite limited playing time.
