Yeshiva University to Launch Health Sciences Campus in Herald Center
- Yeshiva University to open a new health sciences campus at Herald Center.
- The campus will be a state-of-the-art facility occupying the Herald Center building fully.
- This expansion indicates a significant investment in health education and infrastructure.
Yeshiva University (YU) is set to establish a new health sciences campus within the Herald Center, according to sources familiar with the deal. The university has reportedly secured a 32-year leasehold condominium purchase, which will fully occupy the mixed-use property located across from Macy’s. This expansion will see YU occupy 160,000 square feet across the fifth to ninth floors, as well as portions of the ground floor and mezzanine, significantly enhancing its presence in Midtown Manhattan. The timing of this agreement is particularly advantageous for JEMB Realty Corporation, the landlord, which had been seeking a new tenant after ASA College vacated the premises in 2022. The Herald Center, a 10-story building at 1293 Broadway, features prominent retail tenants including H&M, Bank of America, and Verizon, making it a bustling hub in the area. Despite inquiries, JEMB Realty did not respond to requests for confirmation or comments regarding the lease. Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, president of Yeshiva University, emphasized that the new location represents a strategic growth initiative for the institution, particularly in the field of healthcare education. The Herald Center, which was originally an E.J. Korvette department store before its transformation into a retail mall in the early 1980s, is now poised to play a pivotal role in YU's educational expansion.
