N.P.S. Rangers Showcase Unique Uniforms at Fashion Week

During New York Fashion Week, the National Park Service showcased its diverse ranger uniforms through engaging Instagram videos, using the hashtag #npsfashionweek. One ranger, Peelee Clark from Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, gained significant attention for his energetic dance video featuring 17 different uniform pieces, including the iconic wide-brimmed hat. This hat has been part of the N.P.S. since its inception in 1911 and was officially included in the standard uniform in 1920. The N.P.S. uniforms are categorized based on function, including service, field, and work uniforms, with a total of 66 sanctioned clothing items. Each ranger receives up to $400 annually to purchase uniform components, which must adhere to specific guidelines. For instance, certain items cannot be mixed, and shirts must be tucked in properly.
