China showcases military advancements at Zhuhai airshow

The China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, also known as Airshow China, took place in Zhuhai from November 12 to 17, 2022. The event attracted around 600,000 attendees and highlighted significant advancements in military technology. Among the attractions were demonstrations by military pilots flying jets in close formation, leaving trails of colored smoke, an exciting spectacle for the audience. Significant focus was on the integration of artificial intelligence in air warfare, with a display of the J-20S model, a two-seater fighter jet that can collaborate with drones in combat scenarios. The FH-97A drone was showcased for its capabilities as a loyal wingman, designed to assist fighter pilots by conducting surveillance and engaging in combat tasks. This development aligns with the ongoing strategic competition between China and the United States, especially regarding fifth-generation jets like the J-35 and F-35, which signal a technology race in modern airpower. Additionally, experts have raised concerns regarding Taiwan's air defense in light of these advancements, emphasizing the necessity for Taiwan to upgrade its military technologies and strategies in response to the evolving threat from the Chinese air force.
