Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh – In a festive gesture to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, Bhopal Municipal Corporation Mayor Malti Rai announced free bus rides for women and girls on Monday. State Minister Vishvas Sarang praised the initiative, highlighting its significance in facilitating travel for sisters visiting their brothers during the festival. Both Sarang and Rai took to the city buses to personally greet women passengers, spreading festive cheer. During their visit, Minister Sarang interacted with a young girl, offering her sweets and engaging in light-hearted conversation about her plans for the day. The initiative saw a positive response, with hundreds of women utilizing the free rides to reach their brothers' homes, expressing gratitude for the Mayor's decision. The free bus service is available on all 25 routes operated by Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL) until 9 p.m. on the day of the festival. With a fleet of approximately 368 buses, the BCLL aims to ensure that women can travel safely and conveniently during this important cultural celebration. Sarang emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that it reflects the spirit of Raksha Bandhan, a festival that symbolizes the bond between brothers and sisters.
