ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the relocation of the second Test match against Bangladesh from Karachi to Rawalpindi due to ongoing renovations at the National Bank Stadium. The first Test is set to commence on Wednesday, with the second Test scheduled for August 30. This decision ensures that both matches of the series will take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The renovations at the Karachi venue are part of preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy, which Pakistan is set to host in February 2025. Initially, the PCB had intended to hold the second Test in Karachi without spectators. However, construction experts raised concerns about potential "noise pollution" and dust from the renovation work, which could adversely affect the players' health and performance, prompting the venue change. The PCB emphasized its commitment to maintaining the renovation schedule to ensure the stadium is ready for the Champions Trophy. The board consulted with various stakeholders, including the Bangladesh Cricket Board, before finalizing the decision to shift the match location. Looking ahead, Karachi is also slated to host one of three Test matches against England in October. The PCB has assured that it will continue to collaborate closely with architects and construction experts to ensure the safe hosting of future matches while keeping the England and Wales Cricket Board informed of developments.
