WALTHAM – Dance enthusiasts are set to enjoy a captivating experience with Reagle Music Theatre's latest production of "An American in Paris." The show, featuring a blend of singing and extensive dance sequences, highlights the story of an American soldier who falls in love with a French girl in post-World War II Paris. Actor Jack Mullin emphasized the show's heavy emphasis on dance, stating that most numbers consist of a minute of singing followed by seven minutes of dance. Co-star Samantha Barnes praised the music by George and Ira Gershwin, describing it as stunning and beautiful to perform. Despite the musical's setting in 1845 and its music originating from the 1920s, Barnes noted that the themes remain relevant to contemporary audiences. She expressed that the emotional connections within the story resonate with people, regardless of their historical context. Director Bertone promised audiences a spectacular Broadway-style experience, complete with beautiful designs, talented dancers, and exceptional actors. He encouraged attendees to immerse themselves in the enchanting Gershwin music and the vibrant dance performances that set this production apart from others in Boston. "An American in Paris" will be showcased at the Robinson Theater in Waltham, with performances running through August 18, offering a unique opportunity for local theatergoers to witness this dance-centric musical.
