Free Movie Night on Intrepid

The Intrepid Museum, located on a decommissioned aircraft carrier docked in the Hudson River, is set to conclude its free summer movie series this Friday. The event promises a unique cinematic experience, allowing attendees to watch the film "Moonfall" on the flight deck, surrounded by historical aircraft and a NASA prototype orbiter. The screening is scheduled to begin at sunset, around 8 p.m. Elysia Segal, the producer of public programs at the museum, highlighted the distinctive atmosphere of the event, which takes place amidst 27 planes and helicopters that have served in significant conflicts, including World War II and the Vietnam War. The museum has been a hub for aviation and space exploration enthusiasts since its opening in 1982, showcasing iconic vehicles such as the first space shuttle and a nuclear submarine. In addition to the movie screening, the museum is offering free admission from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the same day. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the "Apollo: When We Went to the Moon" exhibition, which is nearing its conclusion. This exhibition details NASA's human spaceflight program from the 1960s and 1970s, providing a comprehensive look at a pivotal era in space exploration.
