A 15-year-old girl, identified as Alexis, recounted her harrowing experience of an attempted abduction in Clinton Township, where 23-year-old Endi Bala allegedly tried to force her into his vehicle. Speaking to 7 News Detroit alongside her mother, Alexis described how she fought back by flailing her arms and screaming for help when Bala grabbed her wrist and threatened her. The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon, leading to charges of assault and unlawful imprisonment against Bala. The situation escalated when a bystander, identified as Billiter, intervened. He confronted Bala, who falsely claimed to be Alexis's father. Billiter's quick action prevented the abduction, as he physically restrained Bala and ensured Alexis's safety. "I told him you're not going anywhere with this girl and that's that," Billiter recounted, emphasizing the urgency of the moment. Alexis expressed her gratitude for his timely intervention, highlighting the importance of community vigilance. Bala's alleged criminal behavior did not end there; he is also facing charges related to the kidnapping of a 7-year-old girl in nearby Sterling Heights, which occurred shortly after the incident with Alexis. Witness Scott Van Luven described how he helped subdue Bala, further illustrating the community's commitment to protecting its children. The prosecutor noted Bala's history of international travel, raising concerns about his background as the investigation continues. The incidents have sparked discussions about safety and the need for vigilance in the community.
