The 2024 East Asian Seas Congress and World Ocean Week commenced in Xiamen, Fujian, China, on November 6th and will conclude on November 12th. Organized by the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia along with the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, the congress has attracted 26 ministerial-level officials from 15 countries. The event features over 30 parallel meetings on diverse topics related to ocean sustainability and features various activities aimed at promoting marine culture. At the opening ceremony, Xiamen was honored with the 'Achievement Award for Best Practice in Marine Ecological Conservation and Restoration,' highlighting its significant contributions to marine ecosystem protection and sustainable coastal development. Additionally, the Ministry of Natural Resources released the China National Ecological Protection and Restoration Bulletin 2024, which provides a comprehensive overview of China’s ecological efforts.
