A 39-year-old Norwegian man has perplexed German authorities after successfully sneaking onto two flights without a ticket, raising serious questions about airport security protocols. The man was apprehended upon landing in Stockholm, Sweden, earlier this month, after crew members noticed his presence. German federal police have since launched an investigation into the incidents, which involve charges of trespassing and fare evasion. The first incident occurred on August 4 at Munich Airport, where the stowaway managed to bypass security and board a flight to Hamburg. Reports suggest he closely followed another passenger, evading an automated ticket check. His second successful attempt involved boarding a Lufthansa flight to Stockholm, which was not fully booked, allowing him to travel undetected. Police spokesperson Sebastian Pinta confirmed that airport staff tipped off authorities in Sweden, leading to his arrest. In response to the incidents, Andreas Roßkopf, head of the police union in Germany, has called for an explanation from Munich Airport regarding how such a breach of security could occur. The airport is currently investigating the matter to understand how the man was able to navigate through the automated boarding pass checks. Lufthansa has acknowledged the situation, stating they are in close contact with authorities and partners as the investigation unfolds.
