In anticipation of increased travel demand during the Durga Puja festivities, Air India has announced the temporary operation of additional flights to Kolkata from four major Indian cities. Starting September 20, 2024, the airline will offer daily, non-stop flights from Bengaluru and Hyderabad for nearly a month. Additionally, Air India has increased its flight frequency from Delhi effective August 15, 2024, and from Mumbai starting September 25, 2024. The enhancements will raise the frequency on the Delhi-Kolkata route from 28 to 35 weekly flights and on the Mumbai-Kolkata route from 21 to 28 weekly flights. These added flights are strategically scheduled to provide greater convenience for travelers visiting family and friends during the festive season, ensuring a seamless travel experience. Moreover, Air India's flights to and from Kolkata are designed to facilitate smooth connections through its hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, linking passengers to international destinations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and various European and Southeast Asian countries. In a related development, Air India is set to enhance its long-haul services with the introduction of its Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the Delhi-New York and Delhi-Newark routes starting November 1, 2024, and January 2, 2025, respectively. With a rich history dating back to 1932, Air India has established a comprehensive domestic and international network, rejoining the Tata group in January 2022 after 69 years as a government-owned entity.
