- The incident underscores the risks associated with speeding and the tragic outcomes that can arise from such reckless driving.
On a Sunday afternoon in Chembur’s Gavanpada area, a tragic accident occurred when a Toyota Qualis lost control and collided with a parked tanker truck. The incident took place between 1:50 and 2:00 pm, as the vehicle was traveling from Gavanpada towards Vashi Naka. Preliminary investigations suggest that the Qualis was moving at a high speed on a relatively empty road, which contributed to the driver losing control and crashing into the tanker stationed on Shankar Dev Road. The crash resulted in the deaths of three individuals: Harichandan Dilip Das, 23; Pramod Shankar Prasad, 35; and Hussain Shaikh, 40. Das and Prasad were pronounced dead upon arrival at Rajawadi Hospital, while Shaikh succumbed to his injuries at Shatabdi Hospital due to internal bleeding. The other three occupants, including the driver Javed Khan, are currently receiving treatment for serious injuries sustained during the accident. All six individuals involved were residents of Shankar Mangir Marg in Laxmi Nagar, Chembur East, and were known to each other. The police reported that three of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle during the collision, suffering severe injuries to various parts of their bodies. The driver remains in critical condition, which has delayed the filing of a formal complaint regarding the incident. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families after postmortem examinations. This incident highlights the dangers of high-speed driving and the potential consequences of losing control of a vehicle on public roads.
