- Connection between the cop killer and the robbery suspects raises questions about possible collaboration.
In a surprising twist during an investigation into a high-profile robbery, a handgun registered to Christopher Dorner, a former police officer infamous for a deadly rampage in 2013, was discovered at a Beverly Hills residence. The search was initiated following the theft of a $1 million Patek Philippe watch from a diner at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on August 7. The gun was found three days later at an Airbnb believed to be used by two South American suspects. The suspects, identified as 21-year-old Jamer Mauricio Sepulveda Salazar from Colombia and 19-year-old Jesus Eduardo Padron Rojas from Venezuela, were apprehended on August 10 after being stopped in a vehicle. Salazar faces charges of interference with commerce by robbery and possession of a firearm in connection with a violent crime, while Rojas is charged with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery. The circumstances surrounding how Dorner's gun came into their possession remain unclear. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jena MacCabe expressed surprise at the discovery of the firearm, emphasizing that the investigation into its origins is ongoing. This incident is not the first robbery linked to the suspects; their vehicle was previously connected to the theft of a $30,000 Rolex in Beverly Hills prior to the Patek Philippe incident. Both men are currently in custody and are scheduled to appear in court for arraignment next month as the investigation continues.
