Google commits $1 billion to educate US college students in AI

In June 2023, Google announced a significant investment of $1 billion aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence training across U.S. universities. Microsoft also announced new AI features for educators within Microsoft 365 Copilot, underlining the growing adoption of AI in educational settings. Despite the advancements, a survey indicated that a significant portion of K-12 educators in the U.S. still feel unprepared to use AI technologies effectively. More than half of students surveyed reported not having received adequate AI training, highlighting the urgent need for educational reforms. As educational institutions progressively incorporate AI technologies, the commitment of Google and similar tech giants is seen as pivotal for cultivating relevant skills among students to prepare them for an AI-driven future.
