Browns Extend Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

BEREA, Ohio – The Cleveland Browns have secured linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah with a three-year contract extension valued at up to $39 million, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal, which includes $25 million in guaranteed money, comes as Owusu-Koramoah was poised to enter the final year of his rookie contract. The 24-year-old linebacker was selected as the No. 52 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Owusu-Koramoah enjoyed a standout season last year, earning his first Pro Bowl selection after achieving career-highs with 101 total tackles and 3.5 sacks. His performance placed him fourth among qualifying linebackers in stop percentage, showcasing his effectiveness on the field. General Manager Andrew Berry praised Owusu-Koramoah's unique athleticism, likening his movement skills to those seen in the "Matrix" films. Berry noted that while Owusu-Koramoah has always demonstrated high-end playmaking ability, he has also worked on minimizing errors that stem from his aggressive playing style. Over the past three years, the linebacker has shown improvement in balancing his aggressive instincts with more disciplined play, a trend Berry hopes will continue as Owusu-Koramoah enters his fourth season. Since joining the Browns, Owusu-Koramoah has participated in 41 games, starting 33 of them. His career statistics include 247 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble, solidifying his role as a key player on the team.
