Story

LATAM Airlines Group has recently placed an order for 10 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, along with options for five additional aircraft. This decision marks an important move in strengthening LATAM's position as the largest 787 operator in Latin America. As part of its strategy, LATAM aims to enhance its fleet to 52 of these efficient aircraft by 2030, which will facilitate service expansions, including new nonstop flights to Sydney. This step aligns with projections showing a more than doubling of air travel in Latin America over the next two decades, driven by a 5% annual growth rate. The region is expected to receive nearly 2,300 new airplane deliveries, boosting the total fleet to over 3,000 by 2043. Ramiro Alfonsín, LATAM Airlines Group's CFO, emphasized that the Boeing 787's efficiency will support sustainable growth while minimizing their carbon footprint. Concurrently, Boeing has initiated public offerings of 90 million common shares and $5 billion in depositary shares. The funds generated from these efforts will be directed towards debt repayment, capital expenditures, and subsidiary investments to maintain corporate stability.
