This program offers temporary toll passes at no cost to travelers, allowing them to access toll roads without incurring the high fees typically associated with rental car transponders. Michelle Maikisch, executive director of the Central Florida Expressway Authority, clarified that the fees associated with rental car toll devices do not benefit toll agencies, dispelling common misconceptions among travelers. Travelers can easily obtain the Visitor Toll Pass by downloading an app available at the airport. After registering with a credit card, users can load a $10 balance, which is charged each time they use a toll road. If the full amount is not utilized, the remaining balance will be refunded once the toll tag is returned, making the process both convenient and cost-effective.
