Story

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — A woman was shot by Larimer County sheriff's deputies early Tuesday morning following a high-speed car chase through Loveland. According to Sheriff John Feyen's office, the incident began around 1:30 a.m. when a deputy spotted a vehicle linked to a woman with an outstanding arrest warrant and a revoked license. When the deputy attempted to pull her over, the woman allegedly refused to stop, leading to a pursuit. The chase lasted several miles through west Loveland, during which deputies deployed spike strips near Highway 402 and Lincoln Avenue. Despite this, the woman continued to drive at speeds exceeding 100 mph. The pursuit concluded at Wheatridge Court and County Road 18, where the woman exited her vehicle armed with a gun, prompting two deputies to open fire. Immediate first aid was administered at the scene before the woman was transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, no other individuals were reported injured during the incident. The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team has been assigned to investigate the shooting, while the Loveland Police Department will serve as the lead agency for the inquiry and will provide further updates as they become available. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding police encounters and the use of force, as authorities work to gather more information surrounding the circumstances leading to the shooting.
