Story

Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday has returned for the new season, promising an expanded coverage of the English Football League (EFL) with live goal broadcasts. This year, viewers can expect to see more live action than ever before, thanks to a significant change in the EFL's television agreement with Sky Sports. The £935 million deal allows Soccer Saturday to showcase live goals from multiple EFL matches, enhancing the viewing experience for football fans. The opening weekend of the EFL season demonstrated this new capability, as Sky Sports aired every Championship, League One, and League Two game live. Under the new agreement, each Championship club will have 24 of their 46 league matches televised, while teams in League One and Two will see 20 matches broadcast. Notably, live highlights will also be featured on Soccer Saturday, providing fans with immediate access to key moments from the games. In addition to regular match coverage, Sky Sports will air specific games, such as the Championship clash between West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United, and other matches on the newly launched Sky Sports+ service. However, during international breaks, matches from the Premier League and EFL will not have their goals broadcast live, as all League One and Two games will be available across Sky Sports channels. To complement this enhanced coverage, Sky has introduced a new deal that significantly reduces the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, and Sky TV bundles, offering viewers access to 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including the Premier League and EFL.
