Volt Lithium Cuts Extraction Time to Under 30 Minutes, Transforming Industry Standards
- Volt Lithium reduced Direct Lithium Extraction processing time to under 30 minutes, enhancing operational efficiency.
- The company achieved a lithium extraction rate of 99%, with some tests showing up to 75% extraction in 10 minutes.
- This innovation paves the way for significant commercial production by the end of 2024, establishing Volt as a key player in the lithium market.
Volt Lithium Corp. has achieved a major breakthrough in its Direct Lithium Extraction technology, reducing processing time from oilfield brines to less than 30 minutes. This significant improvement was made at their Generation 3 U.S. Field Unit located in the Delaware Basin, West Texas. The enhanced processing capabilities are expected to facilitate continuous automated commercial production by the end of 2024, with projected output reaching between 5,000 to 10,000 barrels per day. The advancements in extraction technology are a result of optimizing the Generation 3 equipment, which also maintains high lithium extraction rates of 99%. Initial tests indicated that lithium extraction rates can reach up to 75% within a mere 10-minute cycle. As the company continues to refine its operations, it plans to scale up its Field Unit further in 2025 and beyond. Strategically, Volt is leveraging its innovative extraction technology to utilize existing oilfield infrastructure, thereby minimizing capital expenditure and risks. The company aims to play a vital role in the clean energy transition by supporting sustainable lithium production, which is crucial for battery manufacturing and renewable energy solutions. Under the leadership of President and CEO Alex Wylie, along with the appointment of Dr. John McEwen as Chief Technology Officer, Volt is setting the stage for operating success in the competitive lithium extraction market while positioning itself as a low-cost producer.
