Story

In a significant move for the 2025 recruiting class, top-10 senior Darius Acuff has announced his commitment to the University of Arkansas, choosing the Razorbacks over Kansas and Michigan. Acuff, regarded as one of the elite guards in high school basketball, expressed admiration for Arkansas head coach John Calipari, stating that their conversations felt like a coaching relationship. His decision makes him the first five-star prospect to commit in the upcoming class. Acuff, ranked as the No. 2 point guard and No. 10 overall prospect in the ESPN 100 for 2025, showcased his skills this spring by averaging 23.9 points and 3.6 assists while playing for The Family on the Nike EYBL circuit. He also played a pivotal role for the USA Basketball under-18 team at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup, starting all six games. Acuff aims to enhance his game by focusing on scoring, facilitating, and improving his role as a ball mover. With Acuff's commitment, he becomes the 16th five-star point guard to join Calipari's program since he took the helm at Kentucky in 2009. This trend appears to be continuing at Arkansas, where five-star point guard Boogie Fland has also committed for the 2024 class. The Razorbacks are actively pursuing other top talents, including Jasper Johnson, who is among the final five prospects on their radar.
