Geely's electric-only brand, Zeekr, is set to launch its new 7X SUV in China next month, with plans to enter the European market by late next year. The 7X is designed to compete in the large-sized SUV segment, featuring dimensions similar to the Volkswagen Toureg, measuring 4.8 meters in length. This model will be the third Zeekr crossover EV available in Europe, following the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X, as the brand aims to expand its presence on the continent. The 7X will be a five-seat SUV, which is notable given that many competitors, such as the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, offer seven seats. It boasts a spacious luggage area of 616 liters and ample rear legroom, catering to consumers looking for adventure and practicality. The vehicle is built on the Geely SEA platform, which it shares with the Smart #5, indicating a strategic partnership in the electric vehicle market. Equipped with either 75kWh or 100kWh battery packs, the 7X promises a maximum range of just under 350 miles with the larger battery. Although specific power and torque figures have not been released, the SUV is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. Additionally, its 800V electrical architecture allows for rapid charging, enabling the battery to be replenished from 10% to 80% in only 15 minutes. This launch is part of Zeekr's broader strategy to enhance Geely's footprint in Europe, where other brands like Polestar, Volvo, and Lotus are already established. By introducing the 7X, Zeekr aims to capture a share of the growing electric SUV market, appealing to environmentally conscious consumers seeking performance and practicality in their vehicles.
