Nick Newton"s orchestral concert debuts in Swindon with 50 musicians

Nick Newton, a 46-year-old from Swindon, is set to debut his orchestral concert, 'Havens in Concert,' on September 20 at Christ Church in Swindon. This event features nearly 50 professional musicians and singers, including London's Orpheus Sinfonia, and showcases music from his debut album, 'Havens,' released the previous year. Despite having no formal music education, Newton organized the concert himself while working full-time as an accountant. Newton's passion for music began during his university years at Cardiff, where he started composing melodies and writing lyrics. However, he set aside his musical ambitions for nearly two decades. The Covid-19 pandemic reignited his desire to create music, prompting him to connect with a singer who introduced him to an orchestrator. Together, they spent a year refining his melodies and orchestrating the album. The concert will also feature special guests, including Nadine Eide, a finalist on 'The Voice,' and Georgi Mottram, a Classical Brit Award nominee. Newton describes his sound as primarily orchestral with choral elements, reflecting his unique musical journey. As he prepares for this significant milestone, Newton expresses disbelief at his accomplishments, stating that it feels like a fairytale. His story serves as an inspiration for those who may have set aside their dreams, illustrating that it is never too late to pursue one's passions.
