Story

In March 2025, KI, an employee-owned company based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, announced its strategic relocation to the Fulton Market District in Chicago, marking a significant shift in its operations. The relocation involves securing the entire eighth floor of the prestigious 1045 on Fulton building. This move is expected to position KI within a dynamic design community, replacing its long-standing presence in the historic Merchandise Mart, where it celebrated over 50 years of participation. The grand opening of the new showroom is slated for Design Days, which will occur in June 2026. The new space in the WELL-certified 1045 on Fulton building will showcase products from KI's brands, including KI Wall and Pallas Textiles. The showroom aims to foster collaboration among architects, designers, and other influencers within the design industry. Tony Besasie, KI's chief sales and marketing officer, emphasized that this relocation will allow the company to immerse itself in a lively community that is redefining design practices. The 12-story building, designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, features design elements that emphasize sustainability and innovation, aligning with KI's corporate values. In addition to showcasing products, the new facility will host KI's Chicago-based teams, facilitating enhanced teamwork and collaboration. As KI prepares for this transition, it marks the eventual end of an era at the Merchandise Mart with the company planning to celebrate its final NeoCon event there in 2025. This element of the company's history is significant, as many memories and connections were built over the decades spent at this iconic venue. With the upcoming grand opening in 2026, KI anticipates celebrating this new chapter in its story, looking forward to welcoming the design community into its innovative space.
