PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have made a strategic move to bolster their bullpen by acquiring left-handed relief pitcher Jalen Beeks from the Colorado Rockies. Although Beeks has not started any games in 2024, he previously started 15 games in 2022 and 2023 with the Tampa Bay Rays, indicating his versatility as a pitcher. Beeks was originally drafted in the 12th round by the Boston Red Sox in 2014 and signed a one-year contract with the Rockies prior to the current season. Luis Peralta, the player traded to the Rockies, was ranked as Pittsburgh's No. 24 prospect by Baseball America, having started the year unranked.
