Masked suspect arrested after lockdown in Idaho Springs

The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office had received reports of a masked man with a gun, who had been seen trespassing on private properties earlier in the week. The suspect reportedly trespassed on multiple properties on Peaceful Valley Lane, stealing over $2,000 worth of items and causing damage that amounted to another $2,000. On Thursday, he allegedly committed trespassing again, this time on Ute Creek Road. Law enforcement received a tip about the suspect's whereabouts on Highway 103, leading to a brief chase. The suspect was involved in a vehicle crash and fled the scene on foot. A shelter-in-place was issued for the community, with residents advised to remain indoors as multiple agencies conducted extensive searches for the individual, believed to be armed and dangerous. The situation escalated as the sheriff's office released video footage showing the suspect in tactical clothing and brandishing a firearm. The lockdown was lifted around 1:30 a.m. Friday, after the suspect fitting the description was found walking in downtown Idaho Springs. After being identified by deputies, he was taken into custody.
