This shift comes as the industry adapts to new AI storage and memory workflows. Key announcements from Kioxia and SK Hynix, along with Lam Research's advancements in 3D NAND technology, highlight the ongoing transformation in storage architectures. Kioxia has made significant strides with its Gen 8 BiCS flash product, achieving an 80% increase in interface performance and a 10% reduction in read latency compared to its Gen 6 predecessor. The company’s innovative approach combines lateral and vertical scaling, allowing for higher memory density with fewer layers.
