A 22-year-old man has been charged following an assault and robbery incident involving a woman outside Hampden Park prior to the Rangers' Premier Sports Cup match against St Johnstone. The incident occurred around 4:45 PM on Saturday, just an hour before the match commenced. The victim, a 51-year-old woman and employee of St Johnstone, had a supporters drum taken from her during the altercation. In addition to the primary suspect, two other men, aged 16 and 21, were arrested for breach of the peace and resisting arrest. All three individuals are scheduled to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday. Fortunately, the woman involved did not require hospital treatment following the incident. A spokesperson for St Johnstone confirmed awareness of the situation, stating that they are cooperating with Rangers Football Club, Police Scotland, the SPFL, and the SFA as part of an ongoing investigation. The police took measures to ensure safety by forming a barricade to separate the rival supporters ahead of the match. Rangers, the current cup holders, are temporarily playing their home games at Hampden Park due to ongoing refurbishments at Ibrox Stadium. The team successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the tournament after securing a 2-0 victory against St Johnstone.
