IIT Madras showcases 30 innovative start-ups at Nirmaan Demo Day 2024

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) hosted its inaugural Nirmaan Demo Day on September 27, 2024, showcasing student-led innovations from the Nirmaan pre-incubator. This event featured thirty start-ups in diverse fields such as AI, healthtech, deeptech, and sustainability, presenting their concepts to investors and industry professionals. Nirmaan supports over 85 student ventures, with 26 having successfully raised more than Rs. 108 crore in funding. The event aims to become an annual platform for budding entrepreneurs to connect with potential investors and collaborators. During the event, students shared their experiences, highlighting the invaluable support provided by Nirmaan, including mentorship, financial aid, and access to resources necessary for transforming ideas into viable businesses. The program consists of an eight-week workshop where participants learn essential business skills and receive seed grants to develop prototypes and conduct market research. The Nirmaan initiative is designed to empower young innovators by providing a structured pathway from concept to market-ready solutions. The program includes two phases: the Pratham workshop and the Akshar program, which further supports start-ups in product development and pilot implementations. This comprehensive approach fosters a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship at IIT Madras. The event was inaugurated by Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, who emphasized the importance of showcasing student talent and creativity. The Nirmaan Demo Day serves as a launchpad for young entrepreneurs, reinforcing IIT Madras's commitment to nurturing innovation and supporting the next generation of start-ups.
