The festival will also host a diverse lineup of poets, including Jenny Xie and Terrance Hayes, as well as notable figures like detective novelist George Pelecanos and children’s author R.L. Stine. Highlighting the festival's significance, cartoonist Roz Chast will receive the prestigious BoBi (Best of Brooklyn) award, recognizing individuals who embody the spirit of the borough. The festival has evolved from a modest one-day event into a nine-day international celebration, featuring a variety of activities, including a dedicated day for children’s literature and a “Literary Marketplace” showcasing over 200 publishers. Festival producer Liz Koch emphasized the unique experience the festival offers, likening it to enjoying intimate conversations among authors about books and contemporary issues. Founded in 2006, the Brooklyn Book Festival aims to foster a literary community that connects readers of all ages and backgrounds with local, national, and international authors, publishers, and booksellers.
