Washington Spirit rookie Croix Bethune suffers knee injury in 2023 season

Croix Bethune, a standout rookie for the Washington Spirit, has suffered a torn meniscus that will require season-ending surgery. This injury occurred away from training and has placed her on the season-ending injury list. At just 23 years old, Bethune had an impressive start to her professional career, being selected third overall in the 2023 NWSL Draft after Washington traded for the pick. She quickly became a key player for the team, stepping into a starting role following a trade involving Ashley Sanchez. Throughout her rookie season, Bethune earned NWSL Rookie of the Month honors for three consecutive months, a first in league history.
