2024-25 Obama Foundation Scholars Announced at UChicago and Columbia

The Obama Foundation has announced the 2024-25 cohorts of Obama Foundation Scholars at the University of Chicago and Columbia University. The University of Chicago will host 18 scholars from various schools, including the Booth School of Business and the Harris School of Public Policy. These scholars aim to address pressing community issues, such as mental health care access and STEM education for underrepresented students. Notable scholars include Dan Crotty, who focuses on enhancing mental health services, and Jason Coleman, who seeks to expand STEM opportunities for youth. Columbia University will welcome 12 scholars, including Alex Magu, who is dedicated to improving STEM education in Kenya, and Andrés Sáenz Peñas, who works to strengthen democracy in Colombia. These scholars are committed to creating equitable access to education and empowering marginalized communities. The Obama Foundation emphasizes the importance of building a global network of leaders who can collaborate to tackle complex challenges. Since its inception in 2018, the program has supported 161 leaders from 67 countries, showcasing a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.
