Collaborative efforts were emphasized in the competition, with Samsung Electronics Hong Kong enhancing the event with an AI-focused theme, 'Pathways of Tomorrow: Trailblazing New Paths for the Next Generation.' This initiative called on youth to leverage artificial intelligence and other technologies to propose innovative solutions for various industries. During the competition, students were gathered in workshops focusing on artificial intelligence and Design Thinking, where they worked under the guidance of industry experts and mentors. This educational philosophy aligns with Hong Kong's recent emphasis on developing its AI industry, illustrating the government's commitment to integrating technology into education and professional settings. In particular, the Hong Kong government is in the process of establishing the AI Research and Development Institute, which aims to promote AI innovation and foster local talent. Samsung's competition seeks to address social issues through innovation while promoting a STEM-based educational approach. As part of this goal, the event not only rewards the participating students with prizes but also offers internship opportunities to winning teams, thereby further bridging the gap between academic theory and practical application in the workforce. Significant emphasis is placed on the importance of equipping students with future-proof skills amid the rapidly evolving technological landscape. The event recognized several standout participants; Queen Elizabeth School Old Students’ Association Tong Kwok Wah Secondary School and Tai Po Old Market Public School emerged as champions in their respective categories. Teams engaged in thorough preparations, from proposing creative solutions to utilizing AI for impactful industry advancements. Notably, the 'Wellness Link' app and 'Feast-A-Tongue' app were highlighted for their innovative approaches to health monitoring and dietary recommendations, respectively. Overall, the event concluded on a high note, showcasing the potential of youth-driven AI solutions to pave new pathways for future industries in Hong Kong.
