A 43-year-old Westland woman, April Marie Graves, has been charged following an incident where she allegedly drove under the influence and intentionally crashed into multiple vehicles, resulting in injuries to a man. Graves faces a series of serious charges, including two counts of assault with intent to murder and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, among others. She was arraigned on Tuesday and is being held on an $850,000 cash bond, with conditions including GPS monitoring. The incident occurred on August 10, when Graves reportedly drove at high speeds while intoxicated on Wildwood Street. Prosecutors allege that she targeted a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman who were unloading items from their car, ultimately pinning the man between the vehicles. He was subsequently hospitalized for his injuries. In addition to the assault charges, Graves is also facing counts of felonious assault and malicious destruction of property. As part of her bail conditions, she is prohibited from contacting the victims, consuming alcohol or drugs, and operating a vehicle. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy condemned the alleged actions, describing them as a "stunning example of criminal behavior" that has resulted in severe, lifelong injuries to the victims. A probable cause hearing is set for August 22, followed by a preliminary exam on August 29.
