Ayodhya police are investigating the theft of 3,800 bamboo lights and 36 projector lights, valued at over Rs 50 lakh, from the Bhakti Path and Ram Path areas, which are under high security. The theft was reported following a complaint lodged on August 9 by representatives of Yash Enterprises and Krishna Automobiles, the firms responsible for the installation of the lights under a contract from the Ayodhya Development Authority. According to police statements, a total of 6,400 bamboo lights and 96 projector lights were initially installed on the two paths. However, an inspection on May 9 revealed that a significant number of these lights were missing. Shekhar Sharma, a representative of the contracting firm, confirmed that the theft was discovered in May, but the formal complaint was delayed until August. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and are actively pursuing the investigation to identify the culprits behind the theft. The incident comes in the wake of extensive refurbishments in Ayodhya, which were part of preparations for the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple scheduled for January 22. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the theft to come forward as they work to resolve the case and recover the stolen property.
