- The growth in passenger traffic indicates a significant recovery in the aviation sector after recent downturns.
In April 2025, Corporación América Airports S.A. observed significant growth in passenger traffic compared to the same month in the previous year. The airline operator recorded a 14.0% year-on-year increase in total passenger traffic. This growth was largely attributed to the recovery in domestic travel within Argentina, Brazil, and Italy, with Argentina showing the most remarkable improvement. Domestic traffic in Argentina alone increased by 16.4% YoY, with the resumption of operations by airlines like GOL and JetSMART contributing to this uplift. In addition to domestic growth, international passenger traffic also showed resilience. International travel represented over 80% of total traffic, with a year-on-year increase of 10.3%. Notably, Florence Airport experienced a 13.2% rise, while Pisa Airport reported an 8.3% increase in passenger numbers. This indicates a positive trend in air travel in these regions, despite facing challenges such as high airfares that have dampened demand in some sectors. Cargo volume, however, witnessed a 2.3% decrease compared to April 2024, influenced by reductions in Uruguay and Ecuador. The performance of other countries varied, with Argentina losing a slight 0.5% in cargo volume but overall showing strong traffic patterns. Growth in aircraft movements was evident as well, with a total increase of 11.3% in movements across all operational countries, underscoring a robust recovery in the aviation sector. Corporación América Airports continues to adapt in response to changing conditions, focusing on expansion opportunities and improving operational efficiency to meet the surge in passenger traffic. This positive growth trajectory is expected to have beneficial impacts on the aviation industry, as travel demand continues to rise in Latin America and beyond. Such growth is crucial not only for airports but also for the economic recovery of the regions they serve, reinforcing the importance of air travel in fostering connectivity and economic activity.
