In a remarkable act of remembrance, over 200 residents, aged from 6 to 93, in Inkberrow knitted more than 6,200 poppies for a display at St Peter's Church. This community project, initiated by Tina Hill and Melanie Hart from the Women's Institute, was intended to honor fallen soldiers but evolved into an extraordinary cooperative effort. Originally, the duo anticipated needing 4,000 poppies, but after realizing 2,000 more were required, locals committed to round-the-clock knitting, including during pub gatherings. The emotional moment of lifting the poppies into the air resonated deeply with both knitters and onlookers, generating a poignant atmosphere. The display has attracted visitors from across the UK, overwhelming local refreshment efforts with continuous interest. Melanie highlighted the project as a tribute not only to her grandfather, killed in World War I, but also to all those lost in conflicts. Signs of remembrance are prevalent throughout the village, emphasizing the significance of this communal undertaking.
