Indore, Madhya Pradesh witnessed a lively rally on Friday in celebration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. The event commenced at Lalbagh, where participants donned traditional attire and engaged in musical performances, paying homage to their ancestors. Despite inclement weather, the spirit of unity and cultural pride was palpable as attendees from across the state gathered to partake in the festivities. The rally featured a dynamic cultural program, showcasing tribal communities who performed traditional dances and songs, enriching the atmosphere with their vibrant heritage. Karan Bhagat, the media coordinator for the organizing committee, noted that the procession traversed key city locations, including the Collectorate and Bhanwarkuan Square, ultimately concluding at the Shubh Karaj Garden at Rajiv Gandhi Square. In a notable address, Lokesh Mujalda, the national president of Jai Adivasi Yuva Shakti (JAYS), urged the Supreme Court to revisit its decision regarding the SC-ST sub-quota, highlighting ongoing concerns within the indigenous community. However, the rally also led to significant traffic disruptions, with vehicles stuck for hours on routes leading to Bhanwarkuan Square. Motorists expressed frustration as they faced gridlock, with traffic police struggling to manage the situation. Reports indicated that public transport was severely affected, with no buses operating on the affected routes, further complicating the travel for many.
