Baltimore Assistant Sheriff Arrested for DUI in Ocean City

BALTIMORE—Nicholas Bendy, a 44-year-old Assistant Sheriff and Legal Advisor for the Baltimore Sheriff’s Office, was arrested for driving under the influence in Ocean City on Thursday morning. Police reports indicate that an officer observed Bendy's black Ford Explorer speeding and weaving between lanes on the southbound Coastal Highway, prompting a traffic stop at Trimper Avenue. During the stop, the officer detected a strong smell of alcohol on Bendy's breath, noted his slurred speech, and observed bloodshot, glassy eyes. Field sobriety tests revealed Bendy's poor balance and difficulty following instructions. He admitted to consuming four beers prior to driving, leading to his arrest.
